He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Navy Commendation and Navy Achievement Awards. He was assigned as Chief of Medicine aboard the USS Repose in 1968 in the South China Sea during the Vietnam War. ![]() He completed Flight Surgery training in Pensacola and completed his board certification in Internal Medicine at Bethesda Naval Hospital in June, 1963. Graduated Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He was Phi Beta Pi Medical Fraternity and Louis University Medical School and entered the US Navy. He graduated suma cum laude from Regis High School, Denver, Co., and later graduated from St. Captain Frederick Hayward O'Connell, MC, USN-Ret, 77, died on Jfrom injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.įred was born in Toledo, Oh. ![]()
